Michael Manalo is the owner of Atelier-RE and an Information Architect specializing in GIS-based intelligence and civic innovation for government and community outreach projects. His expertise of integrating web applications with place-making and grant-writing has been used in civic projects: People St (peoplest.lacity.org) and LAB at DCA (dcaredesign.org/lab) – a city staff incubator for digital literacy and innovative practices. His collaboration on these projects have been recognized by the Forbes Magazine, Dice.com, American Planning Association, Southern California Association of Governments, ESRI, KCET, and Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards.
Through Atelier-RE, Michael has partnered with city governments and non-profits that include the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, 18th St Art Center, City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Big City Forum, Los Angeles County of Public Health, I.am.Angel Foundation and Hack for LA.
His work has been featured and recognized by For Your Art- Los Angeles, Evolo-Arch, Los Angeles Times, and Curbed LA. Michael has a Master of Fine Arts in Media Design Practices from Art Center College of Design and Bachelor of Architecture from Woodbury University.
